The 43rd North Carolina Jazz Festival, one of the largest traditional jazz festivals in the Southeast, returns February 2nd – 4th 2023.
Thursday
Kicking off the evening is vocalist Steve Washington (from Washington DC), with a trio of All-Stars. Pianist Lenore Raphael with Steve Hobbs on the vibes follows. Next up, a tribute to Charlie Byrd & Stan Getz’ introduction of Bossa Nova to the U.S. featuring Nate Najar with Jeff Rupert’s tribute to San Getz’ saxophone. The evening concludes with Professor Cunningham’s Traditional Jazz Jam.
Friday and Saturday
The celebration of jazz continues with 15 All-Star musicians playing in the traditional seven sets of six or seven players, each set with a different leader. Saturday from 10:30 until 2 pm will feature a musical brunch, and in the last hour, patrons who are musicians have the opportunity to jam with the All-stars.
